Stephen Bailey to Speak Sept. 16
In follow up to what will likely be a great talk with Jared Polis on September 2nd, we will also feature the challenger for Congressional District 2, Stephen Bailey of Niwot. So, let’s see if the tone or audience changes – I’m betting it’s the same old bunch of friendly folks with just a slightly different set of questions. So, to be a greatly informed and absolutely stuffed CD2 voter, join us for both lunches! See the other post for today at peaktopeakrotary.org for the reason why the Peak to Peak Rotary Club is the best spot for political speakers. Thanks a bunch to both Jared and Stephen for thinking of us!! Again – guest lunches at the Isle of Capris AMAZING buffet are just $10 for all you can eat, great service, and even better company. For more information about attending Rotary lunches as a guest, speaker, or Rotarian, contact Michelle at 303-582-3934 or by email at michelle @ northrup. com

Duck Race a Success!
While raising funds for area scholarships, volunteers and attendees enjoyed a beautiful sunny day at the Golden Mardi Gras patio in Black Hawk. You can view view pictures by visiting our photostream at the link below:
Happy Independence Day from Michelle
Hello Rotarians and Friends,
I am here wishing you a happy, safe and fun-filled Independence Day. At the Fire Eater house, we honor this day by playing John Phillip Souza marches at full blast all morning, enjoying the liberty to grill, eat and drink merrily, the freedom to play horseshoes, and finally a reading of some freedom speech or document before the big boom town opens up in the sky over Black Hawk. Many choose the Declaration of Independence – the document and spirit this day celebrates – as the standard reading, but there is a fine exerpt of George Washington’s general orders given on July 2, 1776 that I thought I’d share with you. Because it’s good to recall the circumstances of our release, and because everybody but everybody just loves George Washington. If that’s too serious for you, I also added the awesome Founding Fathers Rap from JibJab at the bottom. Word!!
A note from Cora…
A little message from Cora Meneceur of the Rotary Rail and Water Tour:
My experience with Rotary and Intelligentsia International
“At the age of 21, I left the Parisian suburbs and came to Florida to work with a Rotary International water projects committee, and to learn about U.S. non-profit organizations as part of my 6-month Masters Degree internship with Intelligentsia International. But it ended up being much more than this. Here, I discovered a real team committed to promote access to drinkable water throughout the world.
Ted Doing Great!
Thanks to all the well wishers for helping Ted stay positive and recover. He’s now able to get in and out of a wheelchair and go to the dining room for dinner. Physical therapy twice a day leaves him a bit tired, but he still appreciates your cards, calls and visits. You can still find him at Lifecare Evergreen. Let Michelle know if you have any questions or need more info.
Ted in Hospital
Please send hopes and prayers. If you would like to send a card, Michelle will drop these off directly. Ted has a bout with pneumonia and terrible arthritis pain, but was doing much better when I went to visit him yesterday. He would also appreciate calls and visits. Let Michelle know if you need more info.
